Two of the biggest races of the season at Zia Park will be the $300,000 Zia Park Derby and $300,000 Zia Park Oaks, which will be run on Tuesday, Nov. 26 for a purse of at least $170,000, will be one of several stakes races held at the Zia Park season, which will run through Dec. The New Mexico Classic Futurity, which will run Sunday, Nov. Wes Giles, coming off a spectacular season in which he topped the quarter horse trainer standings at Albuquerque Downs, will send out seven starters including Chicka Boom Babe, a three-time winner from six starts who will go as one of several contenders in the third race on the card, the second trial heat of the day.
HOBBS – Fifty-five horses will take part in six trial races Saturday for the New Mexico Classic Futurity, part of the opening weekend of action at Zia Park Racetrack and Casino in Hobbs.
